Grapheme Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how hiking.dev ("we", "our") handles information in the Grapheme app. Grapheme is a Unicode character catalog with no account system. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any other directly identifying information.

2. Data We Collect

• App activity, performance, and device info: usage events (such as screens viewed and searches performed) and crash reports, used to fix bugs and improve the app. These events carry your device's advertising ID (see below), a resettable identifier, so they are tied to your device rather than to your name or an account.
• Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob to serve and measure the single native ad shown in the character detail page, and by AppsFlyer to determine which marketing campaign led to your install. In regions where consent is required (such as the EEA and UK), ads load only according to the choices you make in the consent form shown at launch, and you can change your choices at any time via the "Privacy options" entry in the app. On iOS, use of the advertising ID additionally depends on your App Tracking Transparency choice.

We do not sell personal data.

3. Data Stored Only on Your Device

Your pinned blocks and favorite characters are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to any server, and they are deleted when you uninstall the app.

4. Third-Party SDKs

The following services run inside the app:

• Google Firebase: Analytics and Crashlytics (crash reporting). Governed by Firebase's privacy & security page and Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google AdMob: Serves one native ad in the character detail page. AdMob may use the advertising ID for ad delivery and measurement. See AdMob's data disclosure and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
• AppsFlyer: Mobile attribution. Determines which marketing campaign led to an app install, using the advertising ID and device information; on iOS, the IDFA is used only if you allow tracking via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. AppsFlyer also receives the same in-app usage events described in section 2, such as screens viewed, searches performed, favorites, and pinned blocks. 5. Data Retention & Deletion

Analytics data is retained according to Firebase's default retention (up to 14 months). Because the app does not maintain an account, uninstalling Grapheme deletes the data stored on your device (section 3). It does not delete AppsFlyer's attribution records: those are retained on AppsFlyer's servers independently of the app.

To request deletion of the data AppsFlyer holds about your device, contact us at hi@hiking.dev; we submit the request on your behalf through AppsFlyer's OpenDSR data subject request mechanism.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected in the app's store listings.
